Generating my own Tweets (again) with GPT-J
I tweeted about it and talked about it on my last podcast, but if you haven’t heard, EleutherAI just released a new language model called GPT-J. It is 6 billion parameters in size and many have compared it to OpenAI’s GPT-3 Curie engine in terms of its size/performance.
This morning, I was sitting around and thought I’d play around with it a bit. So, as a test, I gave GPT-J the exact prompt I used for this video below where I used GPT-3 to generate my own tweets:
Today, I thought it would be fun to share my findings with you below!
GPT-J Generates Tweets that sound like Bakz T. Future:
"Smile for the littlest"
"Clippy with an i7"
"This is creepy."
"Productivity is not about how productive you are.. It's about how productively you are while you are distracted"
"How to be a good neighbour"
"The most terrible thing a manager can do is allow quality control to be an isolated activity"
"This probably won't be very popular..."
"Only stupid people think their ideal self is unattainable"
"Technology is the context for human creation"
"The more you use technology, the less you believe in it"
"It has been five years since I've been here"
"It's the most honest type of information"
"Things are stupid on the internet"
"The internet has a giant flat screen lying to it"
"We will not have enough time for the important things in life"
"Competition will not always look like it's a competition"
"Being in a high pressure situation may result in more risk, not less"
"So much for 'using the public internet'"
"Everything that occurs in a meeting has already been experienced by someone else"
and some more (with a temperature setting of 0.6):
"How many of us will be remembered for our ideas, and not our credentials?"
"I've never heard of a bad job interview"
"Some people are just too easy to manipulate"
"I have no idea what you're talking about"
"People just don't care"
"If you don't have some kind of skill, you're not going to get a job"
"A lot of people are just lucky"
"You can't make a money by making a lot of money"
"People are starting to get so used to the idea of having to work for a living" "People are too lazy to make their own stuff"
"The purpose of this conference is to teach you how to make a conference"
This is a lower tier GPT-3 engine, so, the quality bar is a lot lower in my eyes. With that said, these tweets are decent. Most of these tweets don’t really sound like me though … but still, they’re passable. Overall, the results were not bad. Props to the EleutherAI contributors on shipping GPT-J.

Editor's note: Please note, you're looking at an edited version of the above outputs, not a raw output. I removed some of the tweets above from GPT-J if they were even remotely offensive or if a tweet was a duplicate.
