NFT Drop: Bakz T. Future <-> OpenAI Codex
I just dropped my first NFT. It’s the email confirmation I got from OpenAI Codex from the live event on Tuesday.
I wanted to commemorate the fact that I was apart of this email blast on what I believe will be a very historic moment in the tech industry. I thought what better way to commemorate it, than by putting this moment I’ll always cherish personally on the blockchain forever?
I don’t care about the money at all, which is why I’ve set the minimum bid on the auction to 32 cents US (it’s as small as I could go otherwise, really, I wanted like 10 cents). You can own a piece of my, “work” for less than $1! Which is exciting for me as a creator to know as well. I love democratizing my work and spreading my ideas as far as possible, not hoarding them. Ideas are born free and it’s only our egos which can limit their inherent organic reach and impact. As long as I am alive, I will continue to share my ideas.
In the interest of spreading my work further, I’ve pasted the exact image piece below for free lol you can save it to your computer or camera roll on your phone and have a 100% copy of it. I guess the only difference is that it just won’t be the, “official” blockchain-proof-validated one.
The NFT world is way over my head, but it has exciting potential which I will briefly discuss in my upcoming series (I’m hoping by now that you know which one). Any way in which we can support artists and creators … anyway we can create meaningful economics for them to continue doing their thing, is a very awesome and noble thing to do.
TBH - I’m even thinking to drop an NFT just for paid subscribers here on the substack. I think I’ll set up wallets for them myself, transfer a copy of an NFT, securely send them the keys to the wallet, and let them know privately that they own it now. I think it would be awesome to literally give them a piece of my work in exchange for their support of it for so long, so early on into my development. Why not let them participate in the economics of my career as I hopefully continue to grow? It costs me nothing to do so and I am eternally grateful for the support. I hope they can sell that NFT in 10 years and pay off a house or something, wouldn’t that be so crazy?
Anyways, you can participate in the fun auction here. You’ll need to own ethereum, I believe download a chrome extension called metamask, and do some other stuff in order to make a bid for it. It was kind of a pain to get it all setup (even for me), but I was eventually able to figure it out myself and glad I know more about this ecosystem and I am now fully setup. The auction only goes on for a few days and I won't be extending it … if you want to own it, now's your chance.
Hope you’re having a great week and enjoying OpenAI Codex as much as me.
